In fact, the typical couple hosting a destination wedding spends 17 months preparing their wedding, instead of a 13-month preparation timeline for couples hosting hometown wedding events This makes good sense when you think about it, as couples generally want to offer their guests more notice to book travel and lodgings than if they were hosting a home town wedding. And if couples wish to visit their wedding area a few times to meet with vendors, that will need extra time.
Destination weddings have way fewer visitors than home town wedding events
It most likely comes as no surprise that destination weddings have less visitors than hometown wedding events. If you're asking your guests to take time off of work, travel, and remain overnight, a few of your relative and good friends are bound to have disputes. According to the WeddingWire study, the average couple hosts 94 visitors at a destination wedding, as compared to 132 visitors at a hometown wedding. And as we all know, more visitors equate to a more costly wedding, so this could be why destination weddings are often thought about a more budget-friendly undertaking.
Destination weddings are held during the day
Among the primary reasons couples choose a destination wedding area is because of its amazing surroundings-- and they want their visitors to really see and experience it! This is probably why more destination wedding ceremonies occur throughout the day. 62 percent of couples host their destination wedding events in the daytime, as opposed to 54 percent of couples weding in their home towns. A daytime wedding also allows for a longer celebration, as the vacation-like setting puts couples and their guests in a partying mood. And another fascinating fact-- couples hosting a destination wedding are less likely to hold their event in a house of worship (just 12 percent do, as opposed to a quarter of those hosting a home town occasion), meaning they're most likely opting for outside ceremony settings to completely accept their wedding place.
Couples hosting a destination wedding are most likely to hire a wedding planner
Less than a quarter of couples hosting hometown weddings hire a wedding organizer, and many typically they're employing a day-of more here planner.
